Gujarat is now home to the largest cricket stadium in the world – the Motera Stadium. Fully equipped for both day and night matches with advanced floodlights, the stadium underwent a major redesign and was later renamed in honor of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The Vision Behind the Motera Stadium
This monumental project was conceptualized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and led by the Gujarat Cricket Association. With a total capacity of 1,32,000 (1,14,600 seated), the stadium has surpassed Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground in size. It hosts both domestic and international matches and spans over 63 acres, with a project cost exceeding ₹700 crores.
The reconstruction was entrusted to L&T Construction, beginning in December 2016. The formal construction kick-off was on 16 January 2017, with the project targeted for completion in two years. By February 2020, the stadium was ready and hosted its first major match — a day-night Test between India and England in 2021.
L&T Construction adopted Pro-Inspector to digitize its Quality Management System (QMS). Today, thousands of users rely on Pro-Inspector across various L&T projects — with the Motera Stadium standing out as a flagship example of its power.
As of March 26, 2019, Project Manager Mr. Kurdeep confirmed that the entire project team had gone fully digital. Pro-Inspector played a vital role — saving over 100,000 sheets of paper and bringing efficiency across all project areas.
Pro-Inspector is a powerful digital suite designed for end-to-end automation of audits, inspections, and field services. In an era defined by Industry 4.0, digitization is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity. Traditional QMS processes require more manpower and time. Pro-Inspector solves this by making inspections faster, simpler, and far less labor-intensive.
L&T has adopted Pro-Inspector as its go-to tool for quality management, transforming time-consuming administrative work into high-impact productivity. The platform supports complete QMS cycle management. Here’s a look into how it digitized the Pour Card inspection process:
💡 A Concrete Pour Card outlines required inspections for reinforcement, formwork, and other preparations before and after a concrete pour. It’s a crucial part of quality control for construction projects.
Auditors can select relevant checklists, conduct inspections, and submit them with comments and photographic evidence.
Approvers are notified instantly and can review submissions, provide digital signatures, and generate immediate reports.
If a checklist is rejected, it reopens for the auditor with required corrections. Comments and rework instructions can be added.
Auditors can resubmit with corrective actions, supported by annotated photographic evidence.
NCs or observations can be raised with due dates, severity, priority, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions). Tasks can be assigned directly within the workflow.
Assigned users receive immediate notifications and can respond with actions and evidence.
Approvers are notified when NC tasks are completed and ready for final review and closure.
A global dashboard monitors compliance and performance, and reports can be generated instantly and shared via email worldwide.
The Motera Stadium project exemplifies how modern construction can seamlessly integrate with digital quality management. Thanks to Pro-Inspector, L&T delivered with precision, speed, and accountability — setting a new benchmark for construction excellence in the digital age.
